Services

Care home network services, from specification to support.

We can take responsibility for one stage or the whole infrastructure journey — including the coordination with internet providers, contractors and care technology suppliers in between.

Our services

Four services, used on their own or together.

  • WiFi Surveys & Network Design

Measured surveys of existing homes, designs for new builds from the drawings, and validation once installation is complete. Covers wireless, switching, segmentation and internet resilience.

    Surveys & design
  • Network Installation & Infrastructure

Fibre incoming line and backup, comms cabinets, switching, fibre backbone, structured cabling and access points — installed, labelled, tested and documented.

    Installation
  • Managed WiFi & Support

Monitoring, troubleshooting, updates and changes once the home is open, with consistent support across multi-site groups.

    Managed WiFi
  • Care Technology & Integration

Making sure the network meets the requirements of care management, monitoring, nurse call and building systems, and coordinating with each supplier.

How we deliver

What happens at each stage, and what you receive.

The same five stages apply whether we start on the drawings of a new build or with a survey of an occupied home.

Stage 1 of 5

Design

We work out what the building needs before anything is ordered or installed.

Who's involvedDeveloper and design team, or the home's manager and operator

What happens

  • Review drawings for a new build, or survey the building for an existing home
  • Plan access point positions for coverage and capacity, room by room
  • Design the network architecture and segmentation
  • Recommend the internet connection and, where appropriate, a backup option

What you receive

  • Network specification and equipment schedule
  • Coverage heatmaps from the wireless design
  • Data point layout and schedule
  • Comms room, cabinet, power and cooling requirements

Stage 2 of 5

Coordinate

We make sure every trade and supplier knows what the network needs, and when.

Who's involvedMain contractor, electrical contractor, internet provider and system suppliers

What happens

  • Issue the data point schedule to the electrical contractor for first fix
  • Agree containment routes and comms room space with the design team
  • Order the incoming line and agree timing and route with the provider
  • Collect network requirements from nurse-call, CCTV, access-control and care-technology suppliers

What you receive

  • Agreed responsibilities between trades and suppliers
  • Visit dates planned against the construction programme or the home's routine

Stage 3 of 5

Install

The physical network is installed, labelled and tested.

Who's involvedOur engineers, with the site electrician where they install the cabling

What happens

  • Structured cabling and fibre backbone, installed by us or by the site electrician to our schedule
  • Cabinets, core and edge switching, router and firewall
  • Wireless access points positioned for coverage and placed to suit the interior
  • Work phased area by area in occupied homes

What you receive

  • Installed infrastructure with every cable and patch lead labelled
  • Fluke-certified cable test results, handed over at first fix

Stage 4 of 5

Commission

The network is configured, tested and handed over with proper records.

Who's involvedOur engineers, the operator and system suppliers

What happens

  • Configure segmentation, security rules and priority for care systems
  • Check coverage and roaming across the building
  • Test failover where a backup connection is specified
  • Test connectivity with system suppliers before their systems go live

What you receive

  • As-built records of equipment, configuration and data points
  • Handover walkthrough for the operator's team

Stage 5 of 5

Support

Our involvement can continue once residents move in.

Who's involvedOur support team and the home's manager or IT contact

What happens

  • Monitoring of the internet connection, switching and access points
  • Troubleshooting by engineers who know the building
  • Firmware and security updates, planned to avoid busy periods
  • Adding new devices and care systems to the right network segment

What you receive

  • Support terms agreed in writing
  • Documentation kept up to date as the network changes
